4 Ways to Advance in Copywriting for the Web
Copywriting is one of the best jobs in the world, as there's unlimited number of people who are looking for someone who can transform even the most technical information into a readable material. It's no wonder that many people have chosen to take this path.
How do you create an edge? Here are 4 ways to advance in copywriting for the Web:
1. Make your titles short. Your headline will speak so much about your article. In fact, lame ones don't get noticed, and all you have written will never be recognized. However, it doesn't mean that you'll spill the beans in your title. Keep it short but make sure it has an impact. Seven to ten words are already enough.
2. Avoid misleading your customers. Deliver what you have promised in your article. If you are going to talk about fashion, make sure there's no way that you're going to divert your reader's attention to economy, unless these two subjects are related. It's your duty to always remain factual and accurate with the information you are feeding to your readers.
3. Get their attention. There are many ways on how you can possibly get your readers' attention and, in fact, reactions. For one, you may start by enumerating the key benefits they can get if they will read your copy. You may also begin with a problem statement in your first paragraph and allow your succeeding paragraphs to deliver the solution.
4. Empathize with your readers. It's very important that you also feel for your readers. What do they need from you? How desperate are they to get the information that they've wanted? How do they want you to present your points? It's only when you can see yourself as a reader that you will begin to discover the effectiveness, or the lack of it, of your article.
